The Sandbox

Pioneering with playful curiosity

Sandbox is a small group we are running to playfully support a culture of pioneering within our church. We want to gather, pray and encourage one another as we explore what it looks like to be passionate Jesus followers that put our faith into action as we respond to a need, injustice or problem that God has put on our heart.

We’re passionate about creating a space for experimentation, that moves us from individual pursuit to collective mission. We want to intentionally foster connection and enable greater impact for ideas being explored in our church community.

Sanbox all came about on the back of our workshops that we run, which you can read more about here

Our pattern

We meet every other week, meeting in ARK. We aim to provide space for –

  1. Sharing our journey – whether that’s  a need, injustice or problem on our hearts, or a new idea that we’re wanting to explore further.

  2. Time to pray for one another as we journey together to explore how God is calling us to respond

  3. Time to unpack scripture to help us understand our role in the renewal of all things.

  4. Huddle, where we give time to practically work on an idea you’re interested in contributing to or hearing more about. You don’t need to have an idea to join, just a curiosity to explore what God has put on your heart.

  5. Lots of laughter and having fun together as we enjoy the adventure!

+ Who its for?

Anyone -

Who came to our Venture Workshop wanting to carry on with the project they were working on

Those wanting to explore a need, injustice or problem on their heart, or develop their own idea with community input

Those wanting to learn from others or have a skill they want to bring to support someone

+ Our values

Respect the work others bring to the table.

Join a conversation if you feel like you have something to contribute but feel free to move to another group if it’s not of interest. Aim to leave a discussion better than you found it.

Get stuck in and give what you can.

The injustices around us are often complex and the collaboration needed to address them is best when a diverse group of people have a voice.

Embrace a community mindset.

If you’re joining a discussion around an idea someone else brought, don’t take it away to work on it yourself. Encourage them in their journey, ask how to best stay involved, or leave it there.
